Margo Gottlieb, Ph.D., is co-founder and lead developer of WIDA at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, University of Wisconsin-Madison, a consortium of 39 state education agencies in the US and 270 international schools worldwide. Over the last decade she has engaged in the crafting of K-12 English language proficiency/development standards for American Samoa, Guam, TESOL, and WIDA, has designed assessment systems, and has created comprehensive curricular frameworks. Margo has extensive publications; her most recent books include: Academic Language in Diverse Classrooms: Definitions and Contexts (with G. Ernst-Slavit, 2014), Assessing English Language Learners: Bridges to Educational Equity (2016, Corwin), Language Power: Accessing Content Through Key Uses (with M. Castro, 2017), and Assessing Multilingual Learners: A Month-by-Month Guide (ASCD, 2017).
